Everything you need to know about Anand Kumar’s Super 30

The first trailer of Super 30 just released today starring Hrithik Roshan and we are shocked looking at his honest behavior as Anand Kumar. This film is based on a true story of Anand Kumar and is directed by Vikas Bahl.

Anand Kumar an educationist and mathematician from Patna, Bihar. He is best known for his ‘Super30’ program in which he gives coaching to 30 underprivileged children for IIT JEE Entrance Examination. Anand came from a middle-class family where his father was a clerk in a post- office. Graduated from B.N. College of Patna, during the course he had formed a Ramanujam School of Mathematics. In this school, he gave mathematics coaching to students. He was planning to go abroad to study mathematics. Due to the sudden demise of his father, there were financial responsibilities on Anand. Handling them he couldn’t pursue his loved career.

Realizing this, Anand was determined that the dreams of young talents should not die because of their financial situation. With this though, he started the mathematics club back. The class would give coaching to all the talented children at a mere cost of ₹1000 per year. He started with 2 children in a small room and they were 36 by the end of the year. The number from here on was just rising. During the course, there a kid approached Anand saying that he couldn’t even afford ₹1000. Anand decided to sponsor him. With this, he started his ‘Super30’ Programme.

In this program every year in May-June, a competitive test is held where young talented kids from extremely poor backgrounds apply. For the entire next year, Anand gives coaching to these 30 children for the extremely competitive test of India, JEE. For this program, he also provides food and staying facilities to these kids. The food is prepared by his mother ‘Jayanti Devi’, his brother ‘Pranav Kumar’ manages the staying part and Anand gives coaching. Together the family is doing such noble work with no greed. By 2018, 422 children out of 480 have entered into IIT, the premier institute of India. Due to his success rate, Anand has been attacked on several occasions and needs to have a bodyguard with him.

He is known worldwide for his initiative. He has been recognized on several platforms like The Discovery Channel, The New York Times, BBC. He has also talked about his journey in IIM- Ahmedabad, Different IITs, Stanford University, University of British Columbia and Tokyo University.

Super 30 is scheduled to hit the theatres on July 12.
