Movies you should definitely watch to make you feel patriotic

“You must be the change you want to see” this thought we all have heard many times in our life. We all can remember this either from our English textbook in school or from our philosophical teacher in social science class. Why do we remember this? If asked we would say a great man once said this. True very true but who was this great man? Do we all remember him? Yes, some of us do and some don’t. Yes, you got it right it’s “the father of the nation”. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Gandhiji).

It’s his 148th birth anniversary on 2nd October this year and we all can remember him the old way that is by prayer services and tributes to him all over the country or the commemorative ceremonies in different cities and colleges, local governments but there is another way as well, and it’s the more fun way to remember him. Mahatma life of Gandhi-1968

It is a 1968 documentary biography film, detailing the life of Mahatma Gandhi. This was produced by the Mahatma Gandhi national memorial fund in cooperation with the Film’s division of the government of India. It contains live photography, animation and old prints to provide an integrated image of his life.


Gandhi is considered to be a historical drama film. The character is mainly made as a non-violent enthusiast who wants to freed his country. It is once in a long while a motion picture so eloquently expressive and technically exquisite that tempts one to watch it.

The Making of Mahatma-1996

It is a joint Indian and south African film, directed by Shyam Benegal, about the early life of mahatma Gandhi. This film is based upon the book “the apprentice f a mahatma” by Fatima Meer who also wrote the screenplay.

Lage rho Munna Bhai-2006

It is an Indian comedy drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani in which the eponymous character starts to see the spirit of mahatma Gandhi through which he starts to practice the values of him which he calls Gandhigiri for helping ordinary people in their day to day life.

Gandhi my Father-2007

The film explores the troubles relationship between mahatma Gandhi and his son Harilal Gandhi. It is based on a novel by Gujarati author Dinkar Joshi. The movie was shot in south Africa and in several Indian cities.

The Gandhi Murder-2019

It is a 2019 British-Indian historical political thriller film directed by Karim Traidia and Pankaj Sehgal. It examines the events leading to the assassination of mahatma Gandhi.

These films prove that Mahatma Gandhi was not just the biggest figure in the Indian independence movement but also the face of it to the rest of the world. His philosophies of non-violence, civil disobedience and a will of steel helped obliterate the most powerful empire the world had ever seen.
