SANAM the band behind the 2019 ICC World Cup Cricket anthem

What’s better than two of the most loved things, music and sports coming together. SANAM, the Indian band collaborated with global artists to come up with an anthem to celebrate joy, peace and harmony.

The 2019 ICC Cricket world cup is the twelfth edition of the Cricket World Cup, hosted by England and Wales starting today till the 14 of July. Uber the largest personal mobility company is the official sponsor to this large event. With Uber’s campaign ‘This World Cup, Every Fan Wins’, it aims to unite and create harmony among the diverse nations. In sync with which, to create a platform of celebration they are going to launch 2019 World Cup’s anthem “Way-O, Way-O”.

The anthem is the collaboration of five different artist/bands across different countries written by Sonal Dabral and curated, produced and composed by Michael (Mikey) McCleary. The makers behind the song are the Indian band SANAM, Jahmiel from Jamaica, Catherine Taylor Dawson from United Kingdom, Simba Diallo from New Zealand and South Africa’s choir group Khayelitsha United Mambazo. Everyone recorded in their own country and had sent their vocals to Mikey who compiled them.

SANAM is an Indian pop rock band formed since 2010, famous for its old classic Bollywood songs. The band SANAM consists of Sanam Puri (lead vocalist/composer), Samar Puri (lyricist/lead guitar/composer), Venky S or Venkat Subramaniyam (bass guitar) and Keshav Dhanraj (Drums/lead music arranger). They are also referred as India’s One Direction because of their immediate popularity in the country. This is the first international and sports collaboration of SANAM. With this not only the Cricket lovers have united but also the musicians to promote harmony and peace. India’s cricket festival has arrived and has its favourite band a part of it.

Cricket and “Way-O, Way-O” will resonate with fans across the globe.
