The reason why India is wearing an orange jersey for tomorrow’s match and how Twitter reacted to it

The orange jersey was officially released and Mohammed Shami took to Twitter to share a picture of him wearing it. The Indian team revealed that they will be wearing this jersey when they are facing England as they both have the same blue colour jersey. The ICC had asked teams to wear an away jersey if the teams they were facing also wore jerseys of the same colour. Both England and India wear blue, and with India being the away team here, they went in with an orange jersey.

BCCI’s official apparel sponsor Nike, in a statement, had said that the design was kept to enhance the dynamic movements and modern requirements of the sport and its athlete.

“The away kit is designed to enhance dynamic movements and modern requirement of the sport and the athletes. While the new engineered mesh and strategically placed sweat zones help enhanced breathability for the team on the field, new placket construction, the flex crest, garment cut angles and slash taping all add to making the new jersey lighter, more breathable and helps the athletes be agile on the field,” Nike India stated in a press release.

Some of the fans said that they can’t wait to buy the India cricket team’s away jersey while others didn’t like the colour combination of the newly unveiled jersey. Few fans even trolled the jersey by posting hilarious memes.

This away jersey rule is to keep any sort of confusion away as spectators or television audience might get puzzled by watching teams with same coloured jersey play in the same match. The match against England, on Sunday, will be the first time India will don the away jersey in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 and the Men in Blue might have to wear the same away jersey if they collide with the World Cup hosts in the semi-finals of the ongoing showpiece event.
